Troubadour Greenwich Peninsula will feature two 1,500-capacity auditoria.

A major cultural landmark is headed to East London. Opening in autumn 2026, Troubadour Greenwich Peninsula will bring a combined 3,000 seats to one destination, arranged as two flexible 1,500 capacity spaces. The project positions Greenwich as a serious player on the capital’s theatre map, creating what is set to be the biggest theatre in London and one of the largest in the UK.

The launch follows a period of rapid growth for Troubadour. The group’s Wembley Park site is currently home to the award-winning production Starlight Express, while Troubadour Canary Wharf opens this October with the first stage adaptation of The Hunger Games. The new Greenwich address will complement these venues by accommodating large-scale productions, global tours and major live entertainment, broadening the company’s ability to host ambitious shows that require significant capacity and technical capability.

Set in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula, the venue is located in a neighbourhood with more than 5,500 residents and 180 businesses. Already a hub for arts, culture and design, the area benefits from excellent transport links across London, making the theatre an accessible destination for audiences from the city and beyond. With two purpose-built spaces under one roof, the site promises versatility for producers and a dynamic year-round programme for theatregoers.

Founders of Troubadour, Oliver Royds and Tristan Baker said: “As the waiting list for West End theatres gets longer, we’re delighted that these new theatres will allow us to welcome even more ambitious productions and provide audiences with unforgettable live experiences. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next.”

Programming details are expected to be announced next year. Given the scale of the venue, audiences can anticipate a strong line-up of blockbuster titles, family favourites, and international engagements, with plenty of time to plan ahead.
