Ciné Lumière at the French Cultural Institute in South Kensington will host a special screening of Carved by the Wind. Taking place on 10 November, it will be presented in Arabic and French with English subtitles. If you’d like to add a dose of culture to your night, here’s what you need to know.

After the screening of Carved by the Wind, director Layla Triqui and lead actor Mahmoud Nasr will join the audience for a discussion. Film critic and cultural commentator Dr Khalid Ali will introduce the evening.

Set between Tangier and Bordeaux, Carved by the Wind is a poetic exploration of cross-cultural identity, family secrets, and emotional reconciliation. Its narrative and visual storytelling have captured international attention and earned the film seven national and international awards. Plus, it was awarded the Golden Award at the Black Screen Festival in September 2025.

MedFest Egypt supports this event—a festival dedicated to showcasing impactful films from the Middle East and North Africa that explore health, identity, and society through cinema.

The French Cultural Institute aims to promote French culture in the United Kingdom. Situated in South Kensington, it is located between Queensberry Place and Cromwell Road. Previous events have included book launches, film screenings and fashion events. Plus, family-friendly activities for children and storytelling.
