Explore Queen Elizabeth II’s timeless style at The King's Gallery.
An exciting exhibition celebrating Queen Elizabeth II is set to open at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style runs from 10 April to 18 October 2026, promising a truly fashionable showcase.
The exhibition will feature approximately 200 pieces from the late Queen’s wardrobe. From elegant couture gowns to her relaxed off-duty looks, it offers a fascinating glimpse into one of the most significant fashion collections in British history. Adding a contemporary twist, the British designers Erdem Moralioglu, Richard Quinn, and Christopher Kane will each present designs inspired by Her Majesty. The creations will be displayed alongside original garments, highlighting how the Queen’s influence continues to ripple through the fashion world.
Visitors can look forward to exquisite designs by royal couturier Norman Hartnell, including a striking apple-green gown worn at a 1957 state banquet, as well as more personal pieces worn for family occasions. The exhibition also celebrates the Queen’s effortlessly recognisable everyday style, from tweed jackets to silk headscarves.

Erdem Moralioglu said: “The wardrobe of Her late Majesty is a snapshot of a very long life, a life of duty, and in so many ways it’s a time capsule. It captures a very specific and important moment in history.”
Christopher Kane added, “Queen Elizabeth II’s wardrobe is one of the most significant living archives in modern fashion history. From the decline of the court dressmaker to the rise of couturiers like Hartnell and Hardy Amies, her garments tell the story of Britain and its changing identity through fashion. For designers and students, it offers a masterclass in silhouette, construction, repetition, symbolism and, perhaps most importantly, restraint.”
