The show includes never-before-seen pieces in the United Kingdom.

British artist David Hockney will be bringing an exhibition to Serpentine North in Hyde Park, London. Running from 12 March to 23 August 2026, this marks his first exhibition at the gallery, and it will showcase works that will be seen in the United Kingdom for the first time.

Born in Bradford, England, Hockney is one of Britain’s most celebrated living artists. He has worked in contemporary art for over six decades and is famous for his iconic work, including A Bigger Splash. His career has spanned painting, photography, and digital media.

David Hockney said, “I’m excited to present an exhibition at Serpentine in 2026.” The show will feature digital works, many of which have never been seen before in the United Kingdom. The pieces include his iPad paintings created during the 2020 lockdown, which recorded the changing seasons from spring to winter.

Highlights include A Year in Normandy, a 90-metre-long frieze inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, which was created at Hockney’s studio in Normandy. The exhibition will also include the immersive Moon Room, a meditation on light and time. Plus, there will be pieces from the Sunrise series, which showcase his fascination with the passage of time.

Bettina Korek, CEO, and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director at Serpentine, explained: “We are thrilled that David Hockney has accepted our invitation to present new works at Serpentine North in 2026. As a highlight of our Spring/Summer season, the exhibition promises to be a landmark cultural moment. Serpentine is free and open to all, and we look forward to welcoming audiences from near and far.”

The David Hockney exhibition at Serpentine North will be free to attend.
