Shoppers, start your engines. American rapper A$AP Rocky and sportswear brand Puma have dropped an exciting collaboration. Drawing inspiration from motorsports, it spans clothing, shoes and accessories. If you want to get your hands – and feet – on the pieces, here’s what you need to know.
A$AP Rocky has worked as the Creative Director on the campaign. He has overseen the whole process and directed, styled and produced the campaign. The A$AP Rocky x Puma Sweatsuit is similar to a racing suit and features a distressed allover print. A$AP Rocky x Puma Seatbelt T-shirt is adorned with a graphic that resembles a driver’s seatbelt. A$AP Rocky x Puma XL Gloves mimic veins and come in an oversized fit.
The A$AP x Puma Knitted Balaclava and Padded Balaclava are inspired by the pieces worn by drivers under their helmets. Plus, A$AP Rocky Puma Inhale OG reimagines the 2000 running shoe, PUMA Inhale.
A$AP Rocky explained: “This Miami collection aims to give fans the chance to have their own race suit from the helmet down to the shoes. Other sports have uniforms available for the consumer and I wanted to bring that to the F1 category. For the visuals, I wanted to demonstrate how as adults we can lose sight of the dreams and imagination that we had as kids, and really love how it all came together.”
A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Athelaston Mayers is a rapper, record producer, and fashion icon. He rose to fame as part of the Harlem-based collective A$AP Mob. His critically acclaimed 2011 mixtape, Live. Love. A$AP, propelled him to mainstream recognition. His debut studio album, Long. Live. A$AP, was released in 2013 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
